The Shared EconomyJo Ann Sabbagh, EA4What is the 'shared economy'? Uber, Lyft, and AirBNB are all part of what is now considered the shared economy. During this past tax season, did you have clients bringing in a Form 1099-Misc or Form 1099-K and tell you about their new part-time job? How do you treat the mileage the Uber and Lyft drivers are driving? Are they tracking their mileage? What about the client that is now renting out a spare bedroom in their primary residence? What can they deduct? Join us as this may not be as easy as you first think.
